Drug Testing
GEM Transportation dba Central States Trailways conducts drug and alcohol tests as required by the Department of Transportation (DOT). All employee who possess a CDL or chauffeur license must abide by the following regulations pertaining to the illegal use of drugs and misuse of alcohol.
Pre-Employment
Newly hired commercial drivers are required to take pre-employment drug tests when hired. The driver will not be allowed to drive until negative results have been received. We also request information from former employers pertaining to any drug or alcohol test the driver has taken. If any tests have been failed or refused, the drivers will not qualify for employment.
Random Selection
Clinical Collection Management is our substance abuse testing provider. At the first of each month, an updated driver list is submitted to CCM. From that pool of drivers, they send us the names of the drivers who have been randomly selected for testing. Per Federal Law, each year we must send 50% of our employees for drug testing and 10% for alcohol testing. The test is unannounced and once notified, the driver must go immediately to the test site.
Consequences
GEM Transportation dba Central States Trailways has a ZERO tolerance policy regarding drug/alcohol use and/or abuse.
